Status Cells and DTC for Extra Feedback
The ALVA Delphi Multimedia 440 utilizes forty reading cells and three status
cells. The Delphi MultiMedia 480 has eighty reading cells and five status cells.
Both have Double Touch Cursors. What this means to the user is more control,
more information and more efficiency. The status cells provide information about
the cursor location and the braille display focus position on the screen. The
Double Touch Cursors (DTC) provide total control over the Windows application.
And being truly multimedia, the most popular screen readers for Windows, such as
outSPOKEN and JAWS, support ALVA's unique DTC concept. The first row of touch
cursors quickly and effectively guide the mouse while the second row of touch
cursors activate the speech synthesizer to provide speech output with
information regarding font style and size, print color, etc. The second row can
also be used to activate right mouse clicks, enabling more efficient navigation
and editing. Right mouse clicks can be used in a Windows environment to open
context menus. In MS Word, for example, this provides quick and easy access to
such commands as selecting text, formatting and editing. screen reader software
