Enhanced
symbol libraries
Over 1250 symbols
Inspiration has over 1250 colorful, high-resolution symbols, including
several hundred photographic quality images. Symbol libraries are
organized into logical subject categories, making the process of finding
the required symbol quick and easy. Click the center down arrow on the
symbol palette, and you'll see a list of categories with submenus listing
the associated libraries within each category.
Simplified graphics importing and symbol creation
It's significantly easier to add your own graphics and symbols to
Inspiration 6. Drag & Drop graphics directly from another application
into Inspiration - or use the more powerful Edit Symbol Library feature,
which allows direct importing of graphics into a library.
Animated symbols
Animated symbols are included throughout the symbol libraries, and you can
also import your own animated GIFs. Application settings allow this
feature to be easily disabled to show only the first frame of the
animation.
Multicolored symbols
To customize Inspiration symbols, simply select the colors used in a given
symbol and change them. A new Multicolor button appears on the Draw
toolbar, which expands to display the colors used in a selected symbol (up
to 12 colors). By clicking on a color, you have the ability to change that
color to any of the colors in Inspiration color palette.
Reinstallation of symbols
Now you can take an existing symbol and add it to your diagram, manipulate
it, add draw elements, combine it with other symbols, and then reinstall
it as a new symbol.
Frame enhanced symbols
You can now add (or remove) a rectangular frame to symbols.
Expanded
visual learning
Twice as many templates
Inspiration's 35 templates help you get acquainted with visual learning.
Plus, Inspiration includes language arts, social studies, science and
planning examples to encourage educators to generate even more ideas.
Webbing arrange
The Webbing arrange is great for story webs, character webs and other
related diagrams.
Size-by-level arrange option
This feature enhances visual learning by highlighting levels through
symbol size. Each symbol at a given level in the diagram hierarchy is
sized equivalently, with symbols at the top of the hierarchy sized
largest, and subsequent levels sized smaller.
Picture-to-topic
This feature aids in moving from a diagram to an outline by including the
label for each symbol as an outline topic.
Checklist
Inspiration is now a much more powerful tool for project planning and
tracking. As you work on a project, you can check off competed items in
either the Diagram or Outline view.
Notes list
When you add notes to your diagram, they are automatically included as a
second document when you print.
Selective text color
Inspiration 6 lets you select a portion of text in a symbol or outline
topic and change its color.
Easier
to use!
Continuous nudge
Hold down the nudge buttons (up, down, right, left) on the draw toolbar to
continuously nudge a selected symbol or draw object.
Outline view cursor tracking
The new Move cursor makes it easier to find the right spot to grab a topic
for movement in the Outline view.
Expanded Help system
Inspiration 6 includes a fully indexed and searchable Help system.
Resize symbols from any corner
You can now size symbols from any corner.
Spell check on the Diagram and Outline toolbars
The spell checker has moved to a position on the Diagram and Outline
toolbars.
Background color included in diagram exports
Exporting background colors gives you better WYSIWYG support.
Measurement options
You can set your measurement system to either inches or centimeters.
New Line/New Topic key settings
Application settings allow more control of Enter and Return Key functions
with regard to adding notes and new topics.
Grid square selection
If you turn the Grid Snap on, the cursor continues to be a crosshair +,
rather than selecting a square from the actual grid.
User friendly default settings
You asked us to change some of our defaults. Changes include: Grid snap
and Page lines are off, and the Print Options are set to Fit to 1 page. On
Windows, the default symbol is an oval (like the Macintosh).
